Garden Graffiti

A little bit about Kat and how
Garden Graffiti all started

This story picks up after my love of travel led me to some phenomenal floral experiences in London, Florence & New York.

After 4 years of being a global floral nomad, I decided to come home to Brisbane and start my own floral design studio, Garden Graffiti.

The name came to me as I loved the London style of floristry; whimsical & romantic and also the New York style of floristry; bold & contemporary. It is a tale of two cities -

the ‘Garden’ & the ‘Graffiti’.

Our team really enjoys what we do, and it definitely feels like a ‘pinch me’ job a lot of the time. Even 4am morning starts can’t dull the love we have for flowers at our wholesaler market - it’s a feast for the eyes!

Lastly, this business is only what it is today because of the encouragement, influence, and love from my mum Vivienne (1958 - 2020).

I started GG in my parents laundry more than six years ago now, but I really think my obsession with flowers started as a young girl watching my mum pick stems from the garden and paint her watercolours.

She was the epitome of creativity; a painter, a ceramicist, a cook and a jewellery maker - her love of beauty and design definitely rubbed off on me.

She was all that and more, but ultimately, it was her unwavering motivation and support over the 29 years I had with her, which meant the most.

It meant I could follow my dreams and passions wholeheartedly.

Her favourite flower was the yellow oncidium (dancing lady) orchids.
